Safety Planning: an explanation and template
NSPL explains how a safety plan works and links to a template you can use to write your own customized safety plan. The plan involves identifying warning signs of a crisis, coping strategies, distractions and inspirations, ways to make your environment safe, and reasons for living. With a written safety plan you don't have to worry about figuring out what to do in that moment of crisis; you can just reference what you've already written.

Safety Plan Mobile Apps

These apps can be downloaded to your mobile devices and used to create a personalized suicide safety plan. The apps allow you to link to list out warning signs of a crisis, coping strategies, distractions and inspirations, ways to make your environment safe, and reasons for living. You can also link to your contacts to be able to quickly reach out to specific friends, family members, professionals and services. This way you have your safety plan easily accessible anywhere you go.
